Lizanne Suter

The associate director at Fraenkel Gallery for eight years, Lizanne’s expertise includes both 19th century and contemporary photography. Fraenkel’s museum quality exhibitions, often juxtaposing photography with paintings, drawings and sculpture, gave her numerous opportunities for in-depth concentration on many of the art world’s most highly regarded contemporary artists. Assisting with gallery catalogues and publications provided further occasion for insight into a wide range of artists and media.

While a student at Mills College, Lizanne worked in the Mills College Art Gallery and was an editorial assistant for Picture Magazine. Other gallery experience includes Margo Leavin Gallery, which specializes in contemporary painting, drawing and sculpture.

Most recently, Lizanne has worked for Mary Zlot & Associates, advising private and corporate collectors in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo. As an art advisor, she attended international art fairs and worked with galleries in the United States, Europe and Asia, as well as with major auction houses.

A former Co-Chair of San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s SECA Council, whose members are exposed to the latest developments in local, national and international art scenes, she is currently a member of SFMOMA’s Artists Circle Council. With over fifteen years of active art world experience, she takes great satisfaction in assisting both novice and seasoned collectors in acquiring artworks that are carefully considered and personally meaningful.
